On 21 October 2009, the first and the second phases of the "Arpezos-North Park" and “Kardzhali Business Center Park” agreements will be signed at BKBB which is financed by the "Regional Development" Operative Program. The total price of the project is approximately 9 million Levs but this amount will become clear after the project agreement. It was prepared by the architect Gancho Bakalov and his team.
64 decares of the 320 decares park area is included to the project. The park will have energy efficient lighting, security camera system and automatic irrigation system.
The new central park will enrich the city's green spaces while making a connection between the existing green fields. This project also connects the downtown to the other regions of the city so this park will be an attractive recreational place.
As the first stage of the project some sections will be built in the park. For this purpose, it is planning to build a bridge passing on top of the city garden and the "Arpezos" street. Inside the park there will be recreational places with plantations, children's sections, city terraces, decorative water systems, a central fountain, water steps, small fountains and waterfalls, and a 3.66 decares of parking area. There plenty of places for handicapped people at the various parts of the park. It is also planning to build places where the disabled children can play. Various kinds of trees, decorative plants and flowers will be used for greening the park.
In the second phase of the project it is planning to build the public area which will welcome and wish the visitors. An open air theatre with 1300 persons capacity and a 5200 square-meter lake will be constructed which are outside the scope of the project. For this purpose, it is planning to find another source of financial support.
