Kardzhali celebrated the 97th year of its birthday with lots of smiles in a sunny day. Celebrations began by leaving wreaths and flowers to the General Delov’s monument. Afterwards, the groups from all the Kardzhali schools walked from boulevard of the city center. By the walking group there were the guards of the continent, brass band and dancers. The ceremony in front of the Osvoboditelite Memorial started with the concert of “Kolegium” Classic Music Group at 12.00. The official guests of the ceremony were European Parliament Deputy Professor Vladko Panayotov, members of parliament Tsevtana Karayancheva and Dimcho Mihalevski, the Governor Ivanka Taushanova, the representatives from the brother municipalities Komotini in Greece and Bursa-Osmangazi and Tekirdag in Turkey, Father Petir and Reional Mufti Ahmed Shabanali.

Homage was made to the memory of the soldiers who lost their lives on behalf of the East Rhodope’s freedom.

The Mayor of Kardzhali Eng. Hasan Azis gave a speech. Flowers and wreaths were left on behalf of the Mayor, Minister of Culture Vejdi Rashidov, members of parliament Tsevtana Karayancheva and Dimcho Mihalevski, European Parliament Deputy Professor Vladko Panayotov, the Governor Ivanka Taushanova, Public Auditor Hakif Emin, the Municipal Assembly, political parties, institutions and schools.
