The celebration session of the Municipal Council that was held due to the 97th year of the freedom of Kardzhali, began with the marches of Republic of Bulgaria and the European Union. European Parliament Deputy Professor Vladko Panayotov, Members of the Parliament Tsvetan Karayancheva and Dimcho Mihalevski, and the Governor Ivanka Taushanova were among the official guests. The delegations of the brother municipalities Komoti in Greece and Bursa-Osmangazi and Tekirdag in Turkey were also there. Moreover, at the celebration session delegations from Edirne Municipality, Yalova Municipality, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, and former mayors of Kardzhali Todor Zapryanov, Dimitir Bogdanov, Milan Milanov, and Rasim Musa were there.

All the mayors of the province, the heads of state and municipal organizations, religious representatives, business people, public associations, representatives of organizations outside government followed.

Municipal Council President, Seyfi Necib, in his speech said these: “Today, we have to present respect to the memory of the people who formed the basis of Kardzhali 97 years ago. I wish healthy, peaceful and long lives to the citizens of Kardzhali.”

As a tradition, the Mayor of Kardzhali Eng. Hasan Azis presented the report of the work done by the Municipal Management last year. Mayor also mentioned several major projects taking place in the municipality. The new park that will be installed in the center of the city was also mentioned. The agreement of this park’s project was signed on the 21st of October Kardzhali Day at CBS.

Member of the Parliament Tsvetana Karayancheva celebrated Kardzhalians with the following words: “The 21st of October as an important for Kardzhali. This day is a part of the national consciousness in Kardzhali. And thanks to soldiers and General Delov the freedom of Kardzhali is achieved. After this, a few generations built Kardzhali. Facts are sometimes regarded as unwarranted courage; however we can bring our city into a real home if we are brave enough.”

Member of the Parliament Dimcho Mihalevski addressed the guests of the celebration session with these words: “I wish everybody a happy day. I wish you all health. We need to thank those who built our city. But nowadays we are faced with different challenges, which is to provide job opportunities in Kardzhali. We must work hard on this.”

European Parliament Deputy Vladko Panayotov also congratulated Kardzhalians.

Today, at the Kardzhali Municipal Council session the Mayor of Municipality of Republic of Turkey Osmangazi-Bursa, Mustafa Dündar, Mayor of the Republic of Turkey Tekirdağ, Dr. Adem Dalgich, Mayor of the Republic of Turkey Yalova, Yakup Kochal, deputy mayor of Republic of Greece Komotini, Andonis Karamanis, representatives from the Republic of Turkey Edirne and Bursa Metropolitan Municipalities also made speeches to celebrate.

Moreover, greeting cards were received from Bulgarian President Georgi Pirvanov, National Assembly President Tsetsa Tsacheva, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, European Deputy Metin Kazak, and from many mayors in the country.
