Today a celebration is organized due to the 132nd year of the Russian troop’s entry to the city under the leadership of General Cern Cernobuzov during the 1877-1878 Russo-Turkish War. The celebration started with the Students Troop Household march and popular Russian poetry. Many citizens and the representatives of the institutions and organizations came together in front of the Russian Military Memorial. The celebration in the 22nd of January was organized by the Kardzhali “Friends of Russia” Club under the leadership of Ivan Kolev.
Father Boyan Sariev prayed for those who lost their lives. General Counsel of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kazanchev, was the special guest of the celebration. In memory of the Russian troops “Friends of Russia” Club, the Russian community in Kardzhali, Russian Embassy, Municipality of Kardzhali, schools and citizens left wreaths and flowers.
